Videos: Edler to have hearing today … Nash could have one as well

UPDATE: 3:15: Bob McKenzie via twitter: The Rangers and Panthers have been told there won’t any supplementary discipline for the Rick Nash hit.

What are your suspension predictions for Alex Edler and Rick Nash?

  • Nick Kypreos via twitter: Canucks defenseman Alex Edler will have a phone hearing this afternoon for his ‘charge’ on Coyotes goalie Mike Smith.

  • Bob McKenzie via twitter: The Rangers haven’t heard if there will be a hearing for Rick Nash’s hit on Panthers Tomas Kopecky. The Rangers don’t play until Sunday, so they may be taking their time reviewing it.

A suspension is in order here, Nash left his feet!

Hanzal should have drove Edlers head right through the boards. That wais definately premeditated by Edler, and he should get a suspension for it. But the way the league hands out suspensions to certian players and not others, they will likely pat him on the back.

Also Nash should be suspended for leaving his feet, if Lupul got 2 games for a very questionable call Nash deserves at least 4.

    5 games each.
Nash was late, from behind, to the head and left his feet.
Edler intentionally charged into a goalie ad even hit him high.

Perry got 4 games, so again both should be at least 5.

Feel that Nash was totally accidental, but he will get 1 or 2 games for it.

Edlers is really up in the air, I think it was accidental but he will also get a game or 2 for it

Both were looking at where they were going and didn’t even try to stop, Edler even made extra strides. How could they be accidental?

Even the contact. Nash left his feet, raised his arms up and hit Kopecky’s head from behind.

goalies should be fair game if they leave the crease…what is this…GOLF…it’s a hitting/contact sport…get over it.
Nash’s hit though..a tad late…his arms and shoulders hit the back of Kopys shoulders. Nothing wrong with the hit at all…just a tad late…Nash missed his head, Kopy’s head was down. If Nash gets a game its cause it was a tad late, but that’s all.

    @Kevin

You do know that leaving your feet before making contact is illegal, right?

Edler should get 3 games minimum. Shaw of the Blackhawks received 3 games in the playoffs, and in my opinion tried turning to avoid the hit on Smith.

Gimme a break. Smith is an Academy Award nominee. Edler had no where to go, coasted in, Smith moved back towards the boards, and Edler did NOT leave his feet. Look at the images of the hit. Both feet were still on the ice at the point of contact. If I were a Vancouver fan I’d be pissed. As it is, I just really dislike Smith for his childish antics. Kesler could learn some things from him.

If you leave the crease that’s what happens, the cryotes are a bunch of babies and wouldnt be surprisd if Smith practices this kind of dive. (Just look at the antics of Doan the other night in LA, stayed down like he was hurt, no call, then gets up and tries to start a fight)Elder had nowhere to go. Goalies protection should only be in the crease.

Cannot believe MacLean comment on Central about Edler hit. Lost credibility now..Doug. Was hoping to see Nick’s comment? Edler had actually blocked the puck Doug…and it was now in front of him going the same direction…hmmmm ….is he now the puck carrier technically. Maybe Smith is screwed now…if Edler continues by him with it…A LITTLE LEAN IN SMITTY? Am I color blind…is the trapezoid now also painted BLUE? Edler had nothing to gain by hitting Smith…maybe he should have let up? And then he ends up on his ASS instead with Smith being able to hit the “PUCK CARRIER”. Watch the DAM PUCK in the whole video gang…the puck. The end zone view facing the Coyote goal shows it the best. The major was bullshit….but the suspension is Shanahan and Bettman smoking one too many….EDLER THE GOON….RIGHT!!!!!
