Video: Colin McDonald gets a 2 game suspension

The NHL has suspended New York Islanders winger Colin McDonald for 2 games for boarding Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Ben Lovejoy last night.

The “Key Points” for the suspension were that it was boarding, no apparent injury and no history.

I think it’s BS that the injury, or lack thereof, sustained by the victim is a factor in suspensions.

It’s the act that should be punished, not the result of the act. If you throw that same hit from behind several times, then sometimes the guy might not get injured, sometimes he might and possibly severely. It’s the same act and should be penalized the same.
