Subban: A “Brewing Disaster” for the Canadiens
  • Pierre LeBrun via twitter: The Canadiens only intend to sign P.K. Subban right now and not to trade him. Things can obviously change though.
  • Tim Panaccio via twitter: Panaccio doesn’t think the Flyers would trade Sean Couturier for Subban. Brayden Schenn??? Might be complicated by Luke and not enough for the Canadiens.
  • James Mirtle via twitter: A team could sign Subban to an offer sheet for $5.04 million and only have to give up a 1st and 3rd round pick. If it would be a late 1st round, why not?
  • Renaud Lavoie via twitter: The Canadiens offered Subban 2 years, $5.1 million. $2.2 million in the first year, $2.9 million in the second.
  • Bill Watters via twitter: If those numbers are close, Canadiens GM Bergevin is playing with fire. Money and term have to be more or an offer sheet could be on the way.
  • Andy Strickland via twitter: Strickland has been told for days that term is more of an issue for Subban. He wants a long-term contract, Canadiens want a gap deal.
  • David Pagnotta via twitter: Subban’s future with the Canadiens could be decided this weekend. Options are: Canadiens increase money, Subban sits, Subban accepts offer sheet, Canadiens trade Subban.
  • Dave Stubbs via twitter: No comment from Don Meehan, added a comment “would be breaching confidence to all parties to this process”
