Canucks need to lock up Schneider before dealing Luongo … More on Luongo … Theodore starts … Norris finalists

  • Craig Custance via twitter: One GM noted that the return the Canucks get for Roberto Luongo may be better than we think. Only takes 2 teams to drive up the price. Jim Matheson via twitter: Tampa Bay already has 1 long contract in Vinny Lecavalier, would they really want another in Luongo? Matheson thinks they’ll look younger with Jonathan Bernier. Darren Dreger via twitter: Dreger thinks the Canucks will have to take a contract back in a Luongo trade. He’s still an elite goalie, but may only have 4 good years left and lots of term. James Mirtle via twitter: Mirtle points out (through capgeek) that you just can’t buy Luongo out after 6 year under the currently CBA:

i wouldnt mind luongo coming to the leafs, if the price is reasonable since we gotta take back that monster contract… i can only see burke doing it, if we can shed a contract like komi’s…. but if kesler is available.. can there possibly be another mega trade in the works? kesler+luongo for ???

@hotwings… nothing is worth Kesler+Luongo from the Leafs, plus the Nucks won’t be trading Kesler, he wears an A and in many Canucks fans should be the Captain of the team. Would Luongo really want to go to the Leafs anyways since they’re nowhere near being cup contenders and they just as vicious a hockey market as Vancouver.

i dont think lou would mind going to toronto.. there is pressure there, but not the kind to win a cup, as there is in vancouver or chicago… leaf fans would be happy at this point just to make it to the playoffs the next few years…

with a contract like lou’s… you cant be too picky in terms of what you get in return, as the buyers are mininal… leafs have tons of prospects for lou..

as for kesler.. im dreaming a bit… but i dont think its entirely out of the question… if they move kesler, i think vancouver has got to be saavy enough to ship him elsewhere though…
