  • Chip Alexander via twitter: Hurricanes GM Jim Rutherford said a decision involving Tuomo Ruutu’s contract extension is now expected to come early next week. The “parameters” of extension are set. “Now we have to see where it goes. We don’t want this to drag on.”
  • Bob McKenzie via twitter: The Bruins have made contract extension offers to pending UFAs Chris Kelly, Shawn Thornton, Gregory Campbell and Dan Paille.
  • Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News: Stars forward Jamie Benn suffered cut on his leg by Flames Mark Giordano’s skate. He’s listed as day-to-day. He is not likely to play on Saturday, but is a possibility for Sunday.
  • Jim Matheson Edmonton Journal: Oilers forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins practiced yesterday in a no contact jersey. He won’t play on Friday and is questionable for Sunday. Next Tuesday against the Flames could be the best bet. Defenseman Cory Potter, out with groin injury, skated yesterday but is not ready.
