Kings sending Schenn to Calgary for Iginla? Not so fast …
  • Bob McKenzie via twitter: McKenzie was told by more than one person that LA Kings and Calgary Flames haven’t had a single discussion about Jarome Iginla. Bob McKenzie reports there are rumors out there that are saying Brayden Schenn would be part of a deal that would bring the power forward to LA.
  • Darren Dreger via twitter: Dreger also says that the rumors are false, though there will continue to be plenty of speculation surrounding Iginla and the Flames.
  • Jim Matheson via twitter: Matheson doesn’t think you should “laugh off” Brayden Schenn for Jarome Iginla. In 1995 Calgary sent Joe Nieuwendyk to Dallas for Jarome Iginla (was in junior). Nieuwendyk was 29, Iginla is 33.
  • Jim Matheson via twitter: The LA Kings envision Schenn as a number 2 center behind Kopitar. If they don’t want Iginla, they may still need another top 6 forward.
  • Bob McKenzie via twitter: McKenzie thinks that before the trade deadline, Kings GM Dean Lombardi will try to turn a prospect(s) into a top 6 forward.
  • Rich Hammond of LA Kings Insider: The Kings are looking to send Brayden Schenn to the AHL on a 14 day conditioning assignment. It hasn’t been finalized yet.The NHL may be looking into this as technically Schenn isn’t allowed to be assigned to the AHL as he’s only 19 (need to be 20 to play in the AHL), 19 year olds are to be sent back to Junior. Since it’s a ‘conditioning assignment’ they might get away with it.
