Flyers and Carter close on 10 year deal … Trade offers make “no sense” for Burke … Little returns tonight
  • Tim Panaccio of CSNPhilly: Panaccio is reporting that the Philadelphia Flyers and Jeff Carter could reach a deal this month worth between $60-$63 million over 10 years. As their roster stands right now for next year, the Flyers have $7 million in cap space, and still have Ville Leino to sign. Leino could get a 3 year deal in the $1.5 million range. Leino’s agent Bill Zito has spoken with GM Paul Holmgren a couple times. Leino has 13 points already this season, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’d look for something above $2 million. If the Flyers do sign Carter for long-term deal in the $6 million range, as well as Leino, it’s going to be really interesting how they round out their roster. They’ll need to make some moves heading into next season to give them some breathing room in case of injuries
  • Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun: Brian Burke “I’ve gotten numerous trade offers over the last several days that make no sense and we are sitting tight.” JS Giguere may see more action than Jonas Gustavsson as the team tries to get out of their slump according to Ron Wilson.
